Devon based charity Dartington have just re-launched their in-house magazine. I worked on this project with ace Totnes designers biz-R. We set out to create a design that would reflect the creative spirit of Dartington and strong content that would give insights into what goes on there.
As an historic centre of moderism, Dartington has a long tradition of hand crafts and I was keen that the magazine should reflect this. I came up with the idea making work from a different local artists a major feature of each edition. The first edition features Alice Leach, whose work does much to make the magazine visually striking.
Here are some spreads, starting with the cover.

My first project for Dartington was to be creative director for the 2009 Impact Review.
I wanted to come up with something very simple, very clear and which was intellectually stimulating and emotionally engaging.
The Review rolled off the presses in October. Here's a shot from the Kingfisher print shop where we did a final check on the colours and a couple of page grabs.

We wanted most people to read the review online - to reduce the environmental impact. Most pdf are horrid to read so we spent some time creating an interactive pdf version which I think is pretty successful.
